Gray’s Creek High School

Senior/Graduation Information

  • Seniors Dues:
    • $70 and can be paid by check, cash, or money order. Please pay Mrs. Wade – Social Worker. These dues are for the costs of graduation, t-shirts, and senior activities. Please pay dues as soon as possible.
  • Cap, Gown and Senior Merchandise:
    • are ordered through Jostens. (jostens.com) Cap and Gown are required for graduation . This is not included in the Senior Dues.
  • Graduation Rehearsals:
    • BOTH GRADUATION REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY (UNLESS PRIOR APPROVAL). All seniors must rehearse if they are to participate in the graduation ceremony. Graduation practices are closed to the public, so family members and friends will not be allowed to attend, One will be at Gray’s Creek High School and one will be at the Crown Coliseum.
  • Graduation Day:
    • Wednesday, June 13th at 11:00 am at the Crown Coliseum.
  • Attire/Conduct:
    • Male attire: white shirt, dark tie, black pants, dark dress shoes. NO tennis shoes/sneakers.
    • Ladies’ attire: dress, black pants, black dress shoes with a strap on the heel or an enclosed heel, skin tone hose.
    • DO NOT WEAR UNCOMFORTABLY HIGH HEELS. YOU WILL HAVE STAIRS TO CLIMB.
    • Do not do anything to draw attention to yourself. This graduation is for everyone’s family. Even disruption caused by the student during the ceremony will resul
    • t in your diploma being held.
  • Audience Conduct:
    • Graduation from high school is a milestone in the life of a student and his/her family. We ask your support to make this graduation a dignified and memorable occasion for all involved.
    • Guests who call out or make a disruption of any kind will be escorted out of the Crown.
    • Let each guest who receives a ticket from you know that any disruption they cause will result in your diploma being held and will not be given to you at graduation.
  • GRADUATION TICKETS:
    • Each student will receive 10 graduation tickets.
    • Additional tickets will be earned based on the following for the opportunity to earn up to 15 tickets maximum:
      • (1) for attending senior night
      • (1) for every 10 hours (maximum of 40 hours) of volunteer work hours at the school completed by a parent (4 tickets maximum)
      • Every guest must have a ticket to attend the ceremony regardless of their age.
      • Even children and babies have to have a ticket.
      • Gray’s Creek High School does not sell tickets. Students may ask another student for extra tickets. You are responsible for the guest you gave a ticket to.
      • Tickets will be distributed at the graduation practice at the Crown Coliseum.
  • DELIQUENT FEES:
    • All fees must be paid before graduation. Students with outstanding fees will not be given graduation tickets or receive their diploma until the fees have been paid in full. This includes senior dues, book fines, class fines, etc.

The Cumberland County Board of Education has hired the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) to help facilitate its search for the next superintendent of the Cumberland County Schools (CCS). The Board wants direct input from members of the community to help shape the search process and to assist in defining the qualities and characteristics desired in the next CCS’ superintendent.

The 8th Annual Cumberland County College Fair will be held on October 3, 2017 between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Crown Expo Center. It is the largest college fair in Cumberland County history with more than 60 colleges and universities from around the nation. There will be seminars held for financial planning and the financial aid process. Access to admissions representatives from each school will be available.

All Cumberland County students and parents interested in planning for college are invited!

If you have a problem with your schedule and need to make a change, please download the following form Drop Add/Form 2017 – 2018 and drop off in the main office. Schedule changes will be accepted starting on Monday, August 7th through Tuesday, August 15th. No changes or forms will be accepted after August 15th.

Every effort will be made to provide accurate and complete student schedules based on courses needed and request by students. A schedule change request should be based on a true need, not simply a desire.

Please be reasonable with your request. Examples of unreasonable requests are changing a teacher or class period change. Otherwise, we will make every effort to grant your request. There will be no changes made to your schedule (1st and/or 2nd semester) after August 15, 2017.
